Companionship

“Companionship” 2021
14x13in yarn, chain, punch needle, acrylic paint on two stacked canvases

The bond of two souls amidst a seemingly alien world. This mixed media pieces jumps from the wall. Using stacked canvases and punch needle pieces, this artwork creates interest with uninspected 3-dimensional aspects. Two painted skeletal figures of complementary colors meet under an archway lined with chain. Yarn radiates from the arch with rotating earth toned colors. Perspective is created with a black and white checkerboard punch needle piece, giving a ‘carpet hallway’ effect leading to the central figures.

This piece is about the joining of unsuspecting soulmates. Once you find sometimes vibrations that match yours, the whole world starts to become more aligned. There is order and calamity with companionship. Love, care, and security are felt when you begin this journey.
