Appreciation Makes Waves

Mixing together ideas of togetherness through difference to work in harmony, this textile wall hanging becomes sculptural. The word 'appreciate' sits amongst a sea of a variety of checkerboard bases that were hand punch-needled. It is fascinating how the seemingly straightforward pattern of the white and black checkerboard starts to shift as we start to tweak bits of the pattern. How do these differences change how we feel about pattern? However, in the end, the sameness of the patterns still link together in unity.  Following the word, the seemingly flat base frames seem to start to roll off the wall; showing how appreciation can make waves. By valuing the differences between one another, we can greaten our worldly perspectives.
